Assistance Programs for American Indians

Cash Assistance

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has a Financial Assistance and Social Services program that can offer assistance to American Indians and Alaskan Natives with funds needed for utilities, shelter, clothing, and food supplies. This program focuses on helping individuals achieve independence, which is why individuals that receive assistance will have to create and sign an Individual Self-Sufficiency Plan. If you would like to apply for the program, visit your local BIA regional office, visit the Division of Human Services website, or call the office on 202-513-7622.

Help With Food

Households living on Indian reservations (or American Indians that live in approved areas near reservations) that meet income requirements may be able to get assistance from the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations. For more information on the program and eligibility requirements, visit the application page for the program. Your local Indian Tribal Organization or State Agency will be able to determine if you qualify for benefits, and you can find your closest agency on the FDP contact list or by dialing 1-866-348-6479 and enquiring with the USDA National Hunger Hotline.

Medication costs are one group of bills that can be nearly impossible to pay each month, even with insurance. Unfortunately, these are often dangerous to go without. If you or a family member need help to pay for your prescriptions, discover how what these organizations can help single mothers.

PPA

Medical costs can be reduced by utilizing the services available through RX Assist. The site combs the enormous database to find out which programs will work best for any individual situation. They can be contacted by email at info@rxassist.org. Individual provider phone numbers are available in their program directory.

SNAP

If you are in need of supplemental food assistance then you can apply for the federally-funded Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Food Stamp benefits will allow you to purchase nutritious foods on a monthly basis via your electronic benefits card. To learn more about the program or to start your application process, call the Family Support Division Resource Center at 1-855-373-4636.

LIHEAP

The Missouri LIHEAP program can help you pay your utility bills and can also help you save on your monthly home cooling and heating costs. As a federal initiative, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program caters to families on a limited income. To see if you qualify for LIHEAP benefits, you can call the Energy Assistance Hotline at 855-373-4636.

Access Missouri Financial Assistance Program

The Access Missouri Financial Assistance Program is a program that can provide grants to undergraduate students who do not have the means to finish their degrees. Awards are based on a student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and are limited to tuition fees. To see if your child is eligible for this program you can contact the Missouri Department of Higher Education at 800-473-6757.

As you can see, there are a range of grants available to single mothers living in Missouri that can help ensure that they provide their children with all the basic needs they require to live happy, healthy lives.

Founded in 2006, Veracity Consulting is the result of a key observation from CEO and founder, Angela Hurt.  Companies were finding technology increasingly difficult to manage and overly complicated for businesses.  Technology was changing how we worked together, interact with people, with businesses, and how we live. Businesses wanted help.   This gap led Angela to create the vision of the “Veracity” experience and Veracity Consulting, Inc. was born.  Veracity Consulting, Inc.’s mission is to change the complex world of technology into a more efficient and profitable solution for your business.

Sheila Hodson-Williams started her career as a real estate agent in 1977. A career in service was important to her, so bringing her “hands on knowledge” to the mortgage industry seemed like a perfect next step.

Of her 24 years in the mortgage industry 16 of those years have been with BOK Financial/ Bank of Oklahoma. It has been a great partnership with Sheila’s background in serving first time home buyers and BOK’s participation in a large array of loan products. This includes Section 184, Rural Development and FHA and VA loans, to name a few. Sheila and BOK are able to originate and service loans throughout the United States.
